TAO Accredited for Rail
Parasyn is a Transport for NSW Technically Assured Organisation (TAO 243), authorised to deliver self-assured engineering services across the rail asset lifecycle. That accreditation is backed by RPEQ and RPEV professional engineering registrations and IEC 62443 industrial cybersecurity certification, the same credentials that sit behind every rail and transport project Parasyn delivers.
Our authorised engineering services matrix specifically covers electrical control systems (SCADA) and building management and control systems for rail and transport assets, alongside traction power, telemetry and systems engineering management disciplines.
Rail and Transport Capabilities
Parasyn's rail work centres on the control and communications systems that keep a network running safely, reliably and with high system availability. This includes SCADA, telemetry, RTUs and devices, and interfaces. Systems integration and systems engineering are core components of the work performed from initial requirements through to live transition and ongoing support. Recent work includes modernising a traction power SCADA system without taking the network offline, and delivering RTU type approval for power systems against the standards rail asset owners require before equipment goes near the network.
- Traction Power SCADA: design, integration and modernisation of SCADA and information systems for traction power infrastructure.
- Rail Telemetry: wayside telemetry and remote monitoring.
- RTU Type Approval: type approval and compliance work for remote terminal units on power systems.
- Electrical Control Systems: device integration and lifecycle management.
Track Record
Parasyn has delivered control and communications systems work for some of Australia's largest rail operators. For Queensland Rail, for example, Parasyn replaced critical operational systems supporting the network's day-to-day running. For Pacific National, Parasyn replaced an ageing Operational Management and Control System with a modern, supportable platform. For Aurizon, Parasyn brought a unified design together across previously disconnected systems. For ARTC, Parasyn implemented an environmental monitoring system.
Safety and Assurance
Rail control systems sit close to safety-critical outcomes: station and tunnel environments, traction power, and the systems operators rely on for real-time network insights and alerts to perform their jobs responsibly. Asset owners need real data about how the assets perform.
Parasyn's work on station and tunnel safety systems reflects the same systems engineering rigour applied across every rail project, meaning formal requirements traceability, auditable design records, and verification and validation against the functional and safety requirements each asset owner sets. The safety assurance process and artefacts produced are a critical aspect of both implementing new systems and performing upgrades to existing assets. The process (when followed) ensures risks are adequately identified, the impacts are assessed and treated, and operations weighs in on the transferral of operational risks.
Why Partner with Parasyn
Rail and transport asset owners work with Parasyn because the accreditation, the engineering registrations and the delivery record all point the same direction: an organisation that has done this work before, on networks with the same assurance requirements, and can show the evidence for it.
“TAO accreditation is an evidence-based recognition of our engineering maturity. It tells our rail and transport partners that we have the people, the processes, and the proven track record to deliver certain outcomes for critical infrastructure.”
Talk to Parasyn early in a project's lifecycle, whether that's scoping, developing requirements or performing preliminary design. If you already have an arrangement underway, our project delivery or Owner's Engineer support can help guide it, and for existing infrastructure we also offer lifecycle management services.
